Back to school. Create a reading list for the imaginary English Lit class you’ll be teaching this semester.
Well, I have to say that I couldn't stand most of the books I read in high school. I know they're classics and everyone should read classics, but I feel like kids should be reading books that pertain to this century too.  Teaching the classics are important, but it also puts most kids off from reading. Introducing newer books that still have a god message and literary elements, like The Hunger Games, I think would get more kids involved in their class and reading as a whole! So my list would include :
The Huger Games
Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes
Ender's Game
The Fault in Our Stars
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Thirteen Reasons Why

The Friday 56 (5)

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda @ Freda's Voice.  The rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56.
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
*Post it.

Then hop over to her page and link up!

 This week's book is:

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century
Author: Rachel Harris

The quote:
"Slowly the guy turns, and I fall headfirst into the richest chocolate-brown eyes I've ever seen. He blinks, and long, luscious lashes feather across his bronzed cheeks. I feel myself gawking, just like I did with Skater Boy yesterday at the piazza, but I physically can't drag my eyes away. Lorenzo doesn't smirk or act all conceited like the other guy, either. He simply stares back, his eyes casually skimming over me, causing my skin to warm and break out in a whole body tingle."

Until Next Time
KeepReading

  6. I went the classics route, but considered adding some modern books - particularly The Hunger Games. It would have even worked with my British theme.

New GFC & Twitter follower :-)
